Microwave
technology offers a promising solution for efficient and homogeneous curing of
composite materials. It enables rapid volumetric heating, resulting in shorter
process times and lower energy consumption compared to conventional ovens. By
strategically placing microwave absorbing materials within the composite layup,
the temperature distribution can be controlled to achieve uniform curing.
Industrial microwave systems with multiple magnetrons and infrared monitoring
allow for closed-loop control and process optimization. This technology
addresses a key challenge in adopting microwave curing for industrial-scale
composite manufacturing.
