New Facility strengthens local presence, enhances efficiency, and customer focus
Weiss Technik North America (WNA) celebrated a major milestone on August 26 with a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on a new 125,000-square-foot facility in Kentwood, Michigan. Located on approximately 10 acres, the new building is scheduled to be operational in May 2026 and will feature expanded manufacturing and office space designed to meet the growing demand for Weiss Technik’s industry-leading environmental test chambers.
For more than 45 years, Weiss Technik has been part of the West Michigan community. At the North American headquarters, WNA’s highly skilled employees work across three locations in Kentwood, engineering and building highly customized environmental test chambers. The expansion will add 28% more high-tech jobs in the years to come. By consolidating our current three buildings into one, 35% larger facility, our operations will be streamlined, enhancing efficiency, quality, and collaboration, while significantly increasing capacity.

“This significant investment by the Schunk Group, the parent company of WNA with global headquarters in Germany, underlines our ongoing efforts to develop and build our state-of-the-art products for our U.S. customers who are innovative leaders across many industries. This reflects our commitment to innovation and growth,” said Robert Levert, CEO of WNA.
“By further expanding our engineering and manufacturing capacity in the U.S., we’re strengthening our ability to exceed the evolving needs of our customers with speed, precision, and technical excellence. We are deeply grateful for the support of Mayor Stephen Kepley, the Kentwood City Council, and the city’s development team, whose efforts helped bring this project to life.”

“Our design-build partner, Wolverine Building Group—led by Michael Houseman—has played a crucial role in translating our vision into a high-performance facility,” said Jeff Agar, VP/COO of WNA Grand Rapids.
“This cutting-edge space will streamline our operations across engineering, manufacturing, and logistics, allowing us to serve our customers more efficiently and innovate faster than ever. We’re also thankful for the invaluable support from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and The Right Place, whose partnership has been essential throughout the process.”
